Coalition response...Reaching a consensus on flood control benefits everyone. Insisting that
dams have provided negative effects such as devastating the natural environment
of the Central Valley ignores the tremendous benefits they provide. Yes, flood
control is high on the list but the flexibility of managing California's water
through dams has provided the needed resource for the growth of our state. Part
of that growth has been the available water supply to thousands of family
farmers who grow a safe, healthy and affordable food supply for all of us.
American Rivers overlooks the fact that its own #3 goal is provided through the
existence of dams throughout our state.
