Coalition response...Water suppliers have spent $150 million toward solutions that would
provide a reliable water supply and a restored ecosystem in the Delta. The work
of the Bay Delta Conservation Plan and the Delta Stewardship Council has been
based on science. If California is going to secure its water future, then the
efforts to resolve the problems of the Delta must continue. To step back and do
nothing, or to do one project over the other (water supply/ecosystem
restoration) would be an invitation to disaster.

Coalition viewpoint...It's not an "Old Song, New Lyrics." Current efforts to
establish a reliable water supply for 25 million Californians and farmers who
grow an affordable and healthy food supply and at the same time restore the
Delta ecosystem is not the same proposal from 1982. Since that time, next to
nothing has been done to resolve the water supply issue and the Delta's
ecosystem other than redirect water from farms, homes and businesses for
environmental purposes that, by all measures, have failed. Years of
scientific study and $150 million provided by public water agencies have
brought us to the current proposal by Gov. Jerry Brown and U.S. Interior
Secretary Ken Salazar. If California does not move forward and fix its water
supply problems with improved conveyance and protections in the Delta, then we
will be inviting disaster.
