Coalition response...Special interests that continue to criticize the BDCP process are not part of the solution. Instead, they repeatedly create obstacles to reaching a solution that will protect the Delta and provide safeguards to fish species and wildlife. Valuable time and efforts that could be directed at this solution by officials is wasted in responding to these baseless charges.

Unprecedented Water Exports Yield Unprecedented Delta Fish Kill

Coalition response...This criticism of the Delta pumps cites Spreck Rosekrans’ comments of record levels of water expected to be exported this year but fails to factually present all of Rosekrans’ comments. Rosekrans also wrote, “It is rare of course that water is as abundant as it is this year.” It is this water condition that has resulted in the expected increase in numbers of fish salvaged at the pumps, as explained by fish agency biologists. In other words, it came as no surprise and did not create alarm within the fish agencies. It should be realized that this water condition cannot be replicated in the Delta through operation of the water supply systems; it takes action by Mother Nature.
