Coalition response...Water users have already spent $140 million in developing the BDCP and they are being asked for another hundred million. To blindly go forward and keep writing checks without some kind of assurance that their expenditure won't lead to reduced water supply or reliability is unreasonable. It is mystifying why objections are now being voiced when it was alright to take the water users' money before assurances were requested. These objections are another maneuver by those groups that oppose water flowing through the Delta to 25 million Californians and the growing of a safe and reliable food supply. These objectionists are not providing the required funding to complete the BDCP. To give these groups carte blanche control of California's future water supply is to all but guarantee that California and its citizens have less water in the future.
