Coalition response...The "wake-up call" issued by this editorial should reverberate throughout California, especially those who rely on water delivered through the Delta. The threat of saltwater intrusion into the Delta jeopardizes the water supply of 25 million Californians and a water supply delivered to family farmers that grow a significant portion of the food and vegetables produced in our state. The Bay Delta Conservation Plan (BDCP) is the current effort to provide a reliable water supply while at the same time restore the ecosystem of the Delta. If efforts are not taken to move this plan forward, then it might be only a matter of years before that water supply is rendered useless because of saltwater intrusion.
